Fab Finds: Patchwork Pieces

Patchwork Pieces

Patchwork denim will always remind me of Chloe Spring 2010 collection. So good. Nailing the chic-hobo look is no easy feat, but these shabby pieces make a misstep practically impossible.

The Look For Less: Julie Sarinana of Sincerely Jules

The Look for Less- Sincerly Jules Julia Sarinana

We all love lifting inspiration from our fave fashion darlings, but sometimes their penchant for luxury designers (and generous corporate clothing allowances, collaborations and extra large trust funds…) make the recreating the look sadly of out reach. Based on the popularity of my first style blogger Look For Less (Blair Eadie)- and because I’ve never met a look that couldn’t be recreated for less- I thought it would be a fun idea to continue the style blogger series on FatFreeFashion.

Second up? Julie Sarinana of Sincerely Jules. The California-based blogger has amassed a huge following over the past 5 years of documenting her daily style, travel and life experiences, with no signs of slowing down.

Do you love her casual-luxe look?

The Look For Less: Blair Eadie

NYC girl-about-town Blair Eadie doesn’t do anything on the cheap, but that doesn’t mean we can’t replicate her looks for one-thirtieth the cost of her Chanel bag(s!).

The whole outfit, for Under $160! Do you love this look?

Sneak Peek: Nine West Fall 2014 Preview

Nine West-She's A Little Bit Rock n Roll

Who doesn’t love an exclusive sneak peek?

Last week the lovely ladies at Nine West and the Sherson Group invited me to their Fall/Winter 2014 Preview, and I could hardly wait to feast my eyes on the fresh crop of shoeporn. *Self-confessed shoeaholics, please raise your hand*. Nine West is my go-to store when I need a pair of high quality, affordably priced shoes, so I knew I was in for a treat.

I’m a sucker for a good theme, so moving from each table imagining how I would style each shoe was pretty much my M.O. for the event.

A black ankle boot always has a place in my wardrobe, so She’s A Little Bit Rock n’ Roll delivered on all accounts. Loving those chained boots! *Be Mine*.

Nine West-Leopard

Classic leopard print was elevated with a gorgeous calf hair finish on shoes, totes and satchels. How perfect would those heeled smoking slippers be, when paired with distressed boyfriend jeans? The vintage vibe of the shoe teamed with ultramodern denim would make a killer style combination. #ideas#ideas.

Nine West-Red All Over

I usually pass on red as it doesn’t flatter my skin tone (blue is always the answer), but I was wowed by Red All Over. Check out those knockout candy apple red pumps! Sleek shape. Killer heel. The perfect sexy stiletto for any evening engagement. What was that I said about red, again? Love this classic pump.

Nine West has listened to their customer’s feedback and their Fall collection will have considerably lower price points than past seasons. (Yay!). Entry level pricing for supple leather riding boots? $120! High quality pumps? $100 a pop. Shopping for high quality investment shoes just got a whole lot more affordable.

Which style are you most looking forward to rocking for Fall? Let fashion court officially commence in the comments!

The Look For Less: Kate Bosworth

Actress, model and brand ambassador Kate Bosworth has got street style dressing down to a science. Modest heels, comfy layers and a crossbody bag is always a winning combination from coast to coast.

Do you love this transitional Spring look?

Splurge or Save? Gianvito Rossi Plexi Pump vs. Le Chateau Patent Pointy Pump

To put it plainly, Gianvito Rossi produces pump perfection. The shape of his designs are sleek and chic- I’m still swooning over these powder blue pumps from January! It’s no surprise a high street store has lifted a little inspiration from his creations, and by the look of it, they’ve done a pretty good job!

What do you think, Ladies? Splurge or Save?

Spring 2014 Trends: Fat Free Fashion Favourites!

Ok, Fashaloonies, 2013 was great and all, but who’s ready for a crop of fresh styles? I know I am! Because everyone loves a good trend rundown, below are my favourite trends for Spring 2014.

Frayed2014 will add another layer of destruction to our beloved denim: major fraying. Remember your cutoffs from last summer? We’ve welcomed our jeans into the cutting room. Get a head-start on this trend and grab a pair of your tired-looking skinnies. Snip off the ankle hem. Wash, wear and repeat.  jeans

prettypastelsDuh. You know this, but let’s rehash it again for fun! Pastels are huge. Somehow Radiant Orchid got crowned the top shade for 2014, but really, they’re all back in full force.  heels | dress

Fringe BenefitsGet into the swing of things with mucho fringe or tassel detailing. Why? Because it’s fun!  jeans

90scallingSlip dresses, silk camis, overalls, dainty florals…they’re not going anywhere for Spring 2014. Jump on board this trend with the many styles available in the shops now. overallsslides | top

widelegDitch your skinnies and widen your horizons this Spring with full length palazzo pants or cropped culottes. tan | blue

socks with heelsMost people will look utterly ridiculous attempting this trend, but I must admit, when executed correctly, it does look really cool. As a Canadian, I’m avoiding it at all costs, as we really only have a few short months to embrace a sock-less existence. For everyone else, sock it to ’em!  ribbon socks | polka dot socks | platforms

What are your favourite trends for Spring 2014? Will you rock any of these looks? Let’s discuss!

The Look For Less: Alexa Chung

Alexa Chung’s style is indisputably ’60s mod. No matter which designer she’s supporting or red carpet she’s gracing, she always gives off that come-hither sex kitten vibe. It must be her signature winged eyeliner and perfectly mussed hair. Or the shift dresses. Or the pill box handbags. Or the satin shoes. She’s definitely got this era down pat!

Here she is working a Peter Pilotto for Target skirt and her own unique accessories.

Do you love her style?

The Look For Less: Caroline de Maigret

Caroline de Maigret’s style is my idea of Parisian perfection. Understated, a tad masculine and perfectly oversized. A woman has to have serious confidence to wear peg leg, pleated leather trousers with complete ease, wouldn’t you agree?

Love this utterly timeless, casual look.
